Should peru implement high anti crime policies, even if it impact high strict culture on ordinary people?

Extortion and gang violence becoming very common and they are attacking business, transport workers, schools and trying every possible way. These crimes rapidly increased around 1000 percent between 2023-2025 Criminal gangs targeting increasing fear among common people. We often heard incidents on getting killed for refusing payments. High number of schools got threatened for extortion and even closed because of fear.

Being crime sitting on top, its much required for government to implement highly strict anti crime policies to control the crime and help people to lose fear and get faith in government.

People are not able to do business because of bribes demanding by criminals. If there is a fear business cant run and eventually country wont grow. Fear is the biggest drawback, if people in country are afraid of something their mind cannot work correctly. Brains without fear and with utmost freedom in limits, will have different level of analysis.

Weak government is biggest vulnerability to this aggressive culture, if any government acts as strong leader and implement strict policies against these crimes that aggressive nature would become calm and crime rate eventually gets reduced.

Yes, people here are afraid of crime. They are afraid to travel, work, to run business or just to go out. If crime becomes uncontrollable, there should be strict administration against crime and we should implement anti crime policies.

Ok if government implement high anti crime policies, then all the gangsters would be in prison. Instead of controlling crime this will lead to bigger crimes considering all the gangs in one place. Prisons will become overcrowded. We could already witness because of overcrowding prisons already facing huge issues. We already have history where criminal organizations were working from prisons through drugs and recruitment. If governemt focus on imprisonment, then it may increase crime in other way instead of reducing it.

If government forms strict anti crime policies ignoring basic civilan rights, then these powers would slowly implement against journalists, protestors and political opponents and it wont impact just criminals. The one good example is: After pedro castillos removal, journalists and protesters faced excessive force, detentions and intimidations by security forces. During protest, several civilians died it actually resulted because of severe military escalations. So emergency security responses might lead to serious civil right violations. Once government become comfortable to use high powers, slowly it will use them against ordinary people.

If giving high high anti crime policies would solve this issue, then this issue should be solved by now. Because peru has implemented multiple states of emergency. Despite military deployments and enforcing toughest policing, criminal attacks increased rapidly. I firmly believe, government should stop corruption and if they are exploitable enforcing higher policies would result nothing and it will be extra burden again to innocent people.

High anti crime policies sometimes makes innocent people as victim.If we see history peru got serious human right issues. Last president Alberto Fujimori did two criminal activities: He executed fourteen adults and eight year old boy and kidnapping nine students and professor. In 1991, military death squad killed 15 civilians, they are actually innocent people linked to terrorism. If government gets complete power, it will affect innocent people too.
