Ok we are already paying higher taxes, but there should be some benefit for doing it. Like in cities bus will be over crowded, toll charges are very high. My perspective is if government collecting massive revenue from petrol taxes, it should reduce necessity for expensive private travel by arranging more busses and making bus condition smooth.
Yes people are paying higher tax, many people covered their perspectives. Adding to this, there is quite noticeable point where, though same petrol actually coming to all the states, some states imposing higher tax and some states like goa imposing very low tax. Because of this atleast there is difference of 15 per litre, which is very huge for the cab, auto drives and for the transportation business industry itself.
This is actually creating situation, not on petrol price but on the person where he is actually living.
Consider auto driver, if he is taking 20 rupees to drop a person and if the distance is 10 km.
Suppose if he is taking 10 people in a line, 10*20=200.
So two way distance in 20 km, so per litre it will give around 30 km on an average.
110 is petrol price per litre, so for petrol he should pay around 80 rupees and he is left with 120 rupees.
Per day if he is able to do five trips with the same count and usually its very difficult because of competition.
So he will earn around 600 rupees.
Per month it would be around 18000 rupees.
In a month, as per our analysis auto actually travelling, 3000 km.
Auto rikshaw tyre usually last for 12000 km.
So in four months, his earnings would 72000 and he should replace all three tyres, this would cost around 12000.
So for four months his earning is 60000 rupees excluding damage and rust to the vehicle.
Now lets imagine petrol price is 55 per litre.
So for the same 20 km trip it will consume around 35, so his remaining would be 160 per trip.
160*5=800 per day
24000 per month.
So for 4 months he is earning around 96000 and if we exclude tyres price it would be 84000.
So per month his real income is around 21000, so there is 6000 difference if we reduce petrol rate by half.
Its actually 25 percent increase of their base salary.
It will be really helpful if they can reduce petrol price.
Yes people in india actually paying higher petrol price, though in other developed countries we do have similar petrol prices but the average salary is very high when compared to india. Indian employee earning 25000 and spending around 3000 per month and its more than 10 percent portion of his salary.
Thats the reason, its not about the price of petrol but the average salary comparing with petrol price becomes actual problem.
Yes, indians actually paying high tax. Consider state like telangana actually imposing more than 30 percent of tax. Many states in india imposing these higher taxes and thats directly impacting middle class people, delivery workers, small business, employees, etc
If i am travelling 50 km a day, i am paying around 109 per liter, so per month its rounding upto 2600. Its very high for a person with 15000 salary.
In addition to fuel price rise, its directly impacting transport business, along with petrol other prices which incudes transporting also increasing.
Also petrol is necessary product not luxury one, so the price should be reduced.
Now with these prices, petrol actually becoming luxurious for middle class people.
As per me indians not paying huge tax for petrol, reason is there are some sectors in india which is running with deficit. This funding would be helpful in maintaining those sectors efficiently and try to promote them in better way.
Highways usually collect tolls but developing roads is not that easy and majorly requires public funding interms of this taxes like petrol one among them.
Welfare schemes, defense requires enormous funding.
Consider if petrol taxation reduce, govt has to increase income tax or gst or some other again it would be burden for us.
Indians not paying higher petrol price, see the world there are wars, price of petrol actually increased a lot. Still this country trying not to increase the price of the petrol.
Also money it gets form petrol tax is using for highway constructions, toll plaza buildings, infrastructure projects, public transport, rural development.
I believe if they reduce petrol prices, it obviously affect development projects and also it affect government finances.
